Tell us the story of your bookstore’s origin.
We opened in September of 2024. Abby, the owner, had always dreamed of running a community-centered business, and the dream became reality in 2024 when the perfect location became available and the pieces started to fall into place!
What makes your bookstore special?
Birdhouse Books is a general interest store with something for everyone, but with a special focus on representation and diversity in books across all backgrounds, and particularly LGBTQ+ representation. We are so proud of all the queer rep throughout our kids section and throughout the store. We believe that most people are many things, and we hope that everyone who walks in the door feels welcome and seen for all the wonderful things they are. We also have a special mascot: Mae Mae the Bookshop Yorkie!
