Austin Texas Book Trail 2026

APRIL 4-5, 2026 ✽ DOWNLOAD THE TRAIL MAP

The Book Trail is returning for its third year this April! Mark your calendars for the weekend of April 4 & 5.

The Austin Texas Book Trail is an annual bookstore crawl dedicated to celebrating the literary spirit and supporting local independent bookshops in the greater Austin area. Each year, we gather bookstores in Austin and surrounding areas for a one-weekend “Book Trail,” with participating stores offering exclusive discounts, prizes, and/or activations to serve and build community.

Our mission is to uplift newer bookstores, cherish the old, and energize the local literary community — readers, booksellers, and bookstore owners alike. Last year’s Book Trail celebration saw visitors from 27 unique cities making 2600+ bookstore stops during the two-day event. (Read the 2025 recap here.)

Saturday, April 4: Kickoff at Mañana Dos

Meet us at Mañana Dos in the Seaholm District from 9-11am for our third year of the Book Trail kickoff:

Trail maps & merch — Pick up a weekend-exclusive trail map and snag our limited-run merch, including 2026 posters and embroidered hats printed by Goody Bag.

Snacks & socializing — Enjoy complimentary treats & eats from Mañana Dos as you get to know fellow trailgoers, set against a DJ set from the Queer Vinyl Collective. Plus, Mañana is donating $1 per sale of their literary-themed matcha to Inside Books Project.

Bus & bike passes — Thanks to support from CapMetro, we’re giving out one-day bus and bike passes to the first 100 folks.

To redeem the free bus pass, we recommend setting these up ahead of time:

  1. Download the UMO App & create an account

  2. Download the Transit App – for future Trip Planning

Book donations — Bring your gently used (or new!) books and we’ll send it to our friends at Lioness Books, who were recently affected by a fire that destroyed their inventory.

Check out the official 2026 poster, designed by Austin-based artist Wavy Roller.

For this year’s artwork, we were inspired by Alice in Wonderland and its playful world of discovery. Our 2026 poster artist Victoria Cardeñas (Wavy Roller) helped translate this magic for our weekend of bookstore-driven exploration.

Wavy Roller is an Austin-based artist. Their primary medium is acrylic paintings inspired by nature, human elements, and animals. They enjoy bringing these separate elements together through composition and bold colors. Other specialties include murals and digital illustrations.
