FAQ

  • Do I have to do both days or can I just participate on one?

The Book Trail is 100% self-guided, so it’s totally up to you when and where you want to start. All you need is a Trail Map!

  • Where do I get a Trail Map?

There are three ways you can get a trail map:

    1. Download and print one at home here.

    2. Pick one up at the Saturday morning kickoff at Mañana Dos.

    3. Visit a participating bookstore during the trail weekend. Depending on their bandwidth, they may or may not have trail maps printed and available for pickup. (We’d recommend calling ahead to make sure!)

  • Do I have to buy anything to get my map stamped?

Nope. Our goal is that you’ll use the weekend as a chance to learn about all the bookstores Austin has to offer, so we’re happy if all you do is discover a new bookstore to shop at later. (But buying books and supporting shops is always preferred!)

  • Will there be anything special happening at the bookstores?

Use the printable Trail Map or check our digital map to see what perks each bookstore will have during the weekend.

  • Where do I get this year's merch?

We’ll have a limited supply of 2026 posters and hats at our Saturday morning kickoff! If we have any left over, we’ll bring them to the Sunday night afterparty.

  • What do I get for visiting stores? Is there a prize?

Yes! You can submit your bookstore stops here for a chance to win bookstore gift cards or a handmade beaded flower from local artisan Moot Magoo.

  • Where do I park for the Saturday morning kickoff?

Parking at Mañana Dos (111 Sandra Muraida Way suite #101) is validated for up to 1 hour in the Gables Park Tower Garage. Paid street parking is available on Electric Dr and Sandra Muraida Way.

  • Where do I park for the Sunday night afterparty?

Strangelove Coffee & Wine (2614 E Cesar Chavez St) has street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Can I participate in the Book Trail if I don't have a car?

Yes! CapMetro will be handing out free bus passes to the first 100 people at the morning kickoff.

  • Who organizes this?

The Book Trail is entirely volunteer-run and self-financed by two booksellers/community organizers in Austin. Come to the Saturday kickoff or Sunday afterparty to say hi!
