What’s the story of your bookstore’s origin?
TOMO mags rolled into Austin in October 2025 with our mobile magazine bus and opened our doors in Downtown Austin December 2025. The project started in Houston with a bus and brick mortar location from 2015-2017. TOMO mags began as a passion project inside a restored school bus—traveling throughout the city, popping up at galleries, universities, and coffee shops. What started on wheels grew into experimental spaces and collaborations, and today it continues with our shop in Austin and the rebirth of the TOMO mags bus. We’re still on the move, still building spaces that invite curiosity. Find inspiration, discover new voices, and take something real in your hands to push your ideas forward or simply enjoy.

TOMO mags offers a screenless space full of ideas, built in the spirit of a magazine. We celebrate exploration, diverse voices, and the tactile experience of print because creativity deserves to be felt, not just seen. We work diligently to represent differents part of the world like Latin America, Asia, and Africa through indepedent publishers, art book fairs, and direct partnerships. Our stationery and design goods are intended to be the accessories that sit next to your magazine and make your environment enjoyable and a personal sanctuary.
