What’s the story of your bookstore’s origin?
Phat Tracks Books & Records opened in 2025. It was founded to fill a gap in the local bookstore landscape by focusing on intentionally curated, alternative, and independent titles that are often underrepresented in traditional bookstores.
What makes your bookstore special?
Phat Tracks Books & Records exists because there wasn’t a bookstore nearby that reflected our actual reading and listening habits. We focus on horror, dark romance, punk, metal, banned and challenged books, and small-press work: things that tend to get sidelined in safer retail spaces. The goal isn’t to be everything to everyone. It’s to be a place where people who love these genres feel seen and taken seriously.
