What’s the story of your bookstore’s origin?
Curio Mrvosa was founded in 2021 by two punk musicians who’d settled down in the small town of Taylor. We wanted to contribute to the town’s emerging creative scene by curating an inspiring space. After two and a half years in a small, narrow storefront, we moved into a much larger spot just down Main Street at the beginning of 2024. We’re thrilled to now have additional room to host art exhibits, workshops, book clubs, and more.
What makes your bookstore special?
We curate an unusual mix of new, used, and vintage books and endeavor to be a welcoming and weird alternative-culture mom-and-pop shop like the ones we frequented back in the ’80s and ’90s. We love learning what's piquing our customers' curiosity and introducing newcomers to all that's happening in our small town. Curio Mrvosa is located in the heart of historic downtown Taylor, which is filled with beautiful old buildings and funky new businesses — a mix of past, present, and future to explore.
